A meeting that will change lives.
Today Doug and I had the opportunity to present a program we have been developing to the Mayor and the City Manager of Cahabon. The program is called “Sustainable Lives: Families in Action.” Basically, in its simplest form, it is a program to help families and communities work to achieve goals in 4 different categories and receive rewards for achieving the goals.
We went into the meeting hoping for the municipality to allow us to implement this program with their blessing. The meeting was over 2 hours long (we had been scheduled for 30 minutes). Many questions were asked, and suggestions and insights given. By the end of the meeting the mayor asked us when we when we wanted to start and we replied “today”. He smiled, picked up his phone and by the time we left the meeting the mayor had appointed two full time people to help us implement the program. We have the full support and help from the municipality.
We are working through the details and we are meeting with our first village in the next two days to get them started before we leave to return home for a couple of weeks.
We are ready and excited to roll up our sleeves and put this program in to action. We believe that as the villagers work to achieve their goals, they will receive rewards, but more importantly they will be developing habits that will help create a sustainable life.
