Members of EnLevo visited the sweetest village last week. La Caoba, the most remote village we have been too. 2.5 hours on an extremely bumpy and windy road, crossing the river on a sketchy food bridge and then a 30 minute walk up the mountain. It was a trek, but well worth it.
This village consists of about 50 families. They are far from any electricity or water source. Recently we donated fund to pay for the roof and nails for a school. The chief and his board have been asking for EnLevo  to come and see where they cleared the land for the school and the progress they have made.
We decided to make the trek, and we really enjoyed our time together.

The people in this village are innovative and they are happy.

Doug spent time talking with the board and Kim spent time playing with the children. Many of the children were scared and timid. They have not seen a white, blond woman before. However after playing game, laughing, smiling and hugging we quickly grew to love each other.
We have invited this village to be a part of the EnLevo Sustainable Lives program, and look forward to visiting them and working closely with them to help bring about sustainable change.
