207 chiefs. Today was a historic day as chiefs from all 207 villages met at the Cahabon municipality. Some chiefs traveled 2-3 hours on dirt roads to attend.

The mayor of the municipality asked us to join him in the stage. Doug and I were introduced and invited to talk briefly about the work we are doing and the “Sustainable Lives” program we are beginning to implement.

Most of the chiefs speak Q’eqchi. Our translator (who speaks English and and Spanish) was home sick so she joined us via phone. Doug spoke, Gady translated Doug’s words to Spanish (over the phone), and Darwin (the city manager) translated the Spanish words into Q’eqchi.

We can see that these chiefs are interested in helping their villages. Each village has individual needs and challenges. We are ready to help and create change and work towards helping to develop sustainable lives. #sustainablelives #guatemala #indigenous #indigenouspeople #helpushelpthem #village #villagelife #humanitarian #service #travelguatemala #makingadifference #makingadifferencetogether
